History of Curling

Curling is a sport that dates back to the 16th century, when it is thought to have originated in Scotland. The game was originally played on frozen ponds and lakes, using smooth stones of varying shapes and sizes. The sport was brought to North America by Scottish immigrants in the 18th century, and the first known curling clubs were established in Canada in the early 19th century.

Curling has undergone many changes over the years, but the basic premise remains the same: two teams of four players each, with each team having eight stones, slide the stones across a sheet of ice towards a target, with the goal of having the stone come to rest as close as possible to the center of a set of rings, known as the button.

It became an official Olympic sport in 1998, and has been growing in popularity ever since. It is a sport that requires a great deal of skill and strategy, but it can be enjoyed by people of all ages and abilities
